The next device can know a lot without having every file.
Knowing a Package exists is a useful start. Opening its files is another step. Cloud brings the background; Packtell and your own storage provide access to the actual files.
OrbiFabric Cloud is coming soon. This site is informational only; account creation, sign-in, trials, and subscriptions are not yet available.
- 01Package
- 02Filename and version
- 03Last location
- 04Actual file on this device
Context first. Files from your storage.
The itinerary appears before the tickets are on the laptop
You open “Family trip” on another device and recognize the bookings and notes. Before opening a ticket, Packtell still needs to get the file from the place you stored it.
How you continue
- 01
Know the Package
See what the trip is about and the notes you left.
- 02
Know the files
Recognize the filenames and the version you need.
- 03
Know the last location
A saved location helps you look. It can change while a device is offline.
- 04
Actually open the file
Packtell gets the file through your current storage access and checks it on the device.
A place to continue, even before every file is ready.
Seeing a filename is not the same as downloading or backing up the file.
If something gets in the way
The other computer is offline
New information waits until it reconnects. Files already on your device remain there.
You can see the name but cannot open the file
Connect to the storage that holds the file and check your access. A filename is not a copy of the file.
The only copy is gone
Cloud cannot recreate a lost file from its name, version or Witness record. Recovery needs a surviving copy.
A few things you may be wondering
Does Cloud get my actual files?
OrbiFabric Cloud has no capability to obtain your actual files.
Is Cloud a backup?
No. File recovery depends on a real copy on another device or in your chosen storage.
